Anthony Montagano
Hi, I’m Anthony! I’m a student at UBC studying biology, born and raised here in Vancouver. I’ve always been fascinated by the way people connect, but lately, it feels like real connection is getting harder to find. More people are feeling isolated, and I’ve felt it too.
There was a point when I was stuck in a cycle of sleeping in, skipping meals, and doom-scrolling through the night. I knew it wasn’t good for me, but I didn’t know how to stop. What helped was stepping outside my comfort zone—trying new things, showing up to unfamiliar spaces, and slowly rebuilding routines. But most of all, it was finding people I could be myself around, without pressure, expectations, or judgment.

Maxine Galvan
Hi, I’m Maxine, a UBC student studying Applied Biology with a specialization in Animal Biology. Growing up in a tight-knit family in California to later moving to Vancouver for school, I’ve had my fair share of dealing with loneliness. Four years later, I strive to help others find support systems so they don't have to navigate through the inevitable stressors of life alone. Building meaningful connections is the cornerstone of creating a fulfilling life, and everyone deserves to find their community of people.

Alex Štambuk
Hey! I’m Alex, a student at UBC studying Psychology and Commerce. I grew up in the U.S. and now live in Vancouver, but my roots are split between Croatia and Russia. As the child of first-generation immigrants, I’ve often felt like I was walking a path no one had walked before.
That sense of being on my own shaped a lot of my early experiences. I’ve struggled with major depressive and generalized anxiety disorders, and for a long time, I believed I had to carry my burdens alone. But over time, I’ve learned that human connection is what gives life its color. Having a good group of friends doesn’t fix everything, but it makes the journey lighter and more meaningful.
I’ve found peace and purpose in movement and exploration, whether it’s snowboarding, weightlifting, playing team sports, hiking, camping, or traveling to places I can’t pronounce. These experiences remind me that growth often begins where comfort ends.
